The most distinctive design feature of the Altair G2.2 is its groundbreaking Fusion DAC, which combines the design advantages of Ladder DACs and Delta-Sigma DACs, and incorporates proprietary clock reconstruction, digital filtering, and upsampling technologies, resulting in a significant improvement in sound quality. The Altair G2.2 also functions as a preamplifier, with its maximum output level increased from 4V in the G2.1 to 6V for better compatibility with downstream devices. The Altair G2.2 uses a true trapezoidal resistor volume controller, rather than a digital volume controller that reduces the signal level, effectively reducing noise and maintaining optimal dynamic range. If the user has a preamplifier, the preamplifier function of the Altair G2.2 can be disabled, reducing the output level to 2V for easier and seamless integration with the preamplifier.

The Altair G2.2 supports a variety of network connection methods, including UPnP/DLNA, AirPlay 2, Roon Ready, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, and more, offering a comprehensive suite of features. Through its own Lightning DS app, it also supports various streaming music services such as HighResAudio, Qobuz Sublime+, Amazon Music, and Internet Radio.
