What is true 4K UHD resolution?

A display needs at least 8 million effective pixels to be considered a true 4K display.

Consumer Technology Association (CTA) ® A 4K UHD resolution is defined as having at least 8 million effective pixels.

Optoma True 4K UHD Resolution

The Optoma KHD38+ features TI's revolutionary 4K UHD DLP chip assembly, a high-performance DMD using XPR video processing technology, which can quickly reflect images up to 8.3 million pixels (4 times the number of 1080p pixels) in accordance with the Consumer Technology Association's requirements for 4K UHD 2160p specifications.

True 4K UHD resolution
8.3 million pixels

Thanks to the DLP 4K UHD chip and XPR technology, Optoma True 4K UHD projectors create accurate, sharp, and high-quality projected images.

Optoma True 4K UHD Resolution

DLP UHD XPR technology

  • DLP single-chip systems can achieve perfect image calibration.

  • 3-panel systems are prone to uncalibrated conditions, which may result in color or image ghosting and loss of resolution.

  • 4K enhanced pixels are typically smaller than 1080p pixels, making calibration more challenging in a 3-panel system.

Precise colors depict lifelike scenes.

The KHD38+ utilizes RGBWRGBW 8-color wheel technology, producing stunning colors and up to 4,500 lumens of brightness. Optoma's professional color calibration easily surpasses the HDTV Rec. 709 standard, delivering the most realistic and accurate colors and immersive scene presentation. This is the 4K HDR high-resolution theater-level experience you've been waiting for!

DLP®️ BrilliantColor™ color optimization technology

For ultra-high pressure mercury (UHP) bulbs, DLP®️ BrilliantColor™ color optimization technology can improve brightness performance by up to 50%, while providing up to 6-node color wheel processing to create an ultra-wide color gamut of 1 billion colors.

Optoma HDR

HDR10 / HLG High Dynamic Range

The KHD38+ supports HDR10 and HLG signal content. When HDR or HLG signals are input, the projector will automatically switch to HDR/HLG display mode. Through Optoma HDR tone mapping technology, the colors of movies or games supporting HDR/HLG become more accurate and the contrast more vivid.
